Babyshowers, Blessingways, and Celebrations- MAKE IT YOUR OWN~

As many mothers enter the mid stages of pregnancy they begin to wonder, get excited about, or anxious about their babyshower. "What will it be like? Is anyone going to throw one for me? Who do I invite? Can I host it myself? Should I make a registry?" There are so many questions that can go running through a mother's mind and I have one simple answer from my experiences of having 3 baby showers . . . make it what YOU want it! After all, it is your pregnancy, your baby, and your dream come true. If you feel at peace waiting to see who may or may not offer to throw your baby shower, simply chill out and wait for the cards to unfold . If time is ticking and no one has brought it up, ASK!

During my first pregnancy a few friends volunteered to host a baby shower for me at the beautiful Zorthian Ranch. My mom hosted another shower for me near the pool at her place in TX which was lots of fun!  At these baby showers my mom and friends supplied the food, activities, and decorations. Of course they asked what I prefered and all of the food was gluten free!

During my second pregnancy I decided to help make my baby celebration happen. I reached out to a few girlfriends of mine and asked if they'd be interested in helping. They were thrilled and thankful I reached out and had lots of fun making it a special day for me, created to my comfort. It was nice working together to make this happen. Shane, friends, grandparents, and I all worked together and created a Blessingway styled baby shower. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Here's a peek at what our Baby Blessing was like this time around~
This event was hosted by a sweet friend of mine at a lovely community home, The Sugar Shack. We began a ceremony with each guest being cleansed with sage as they entered the room. A circle of comfy colorful pillows was set in in the center of the room for each guest to sit comfortably on. It was a simple intimate setting surrounded by fresh flower arrangements made by my friend and I.  After everyone was seated on their pillow and the room was blessed, each guest was handed a balloon. They were instructed to blow it up and tuck it under their shirts. Now everyone had a tummy the size of mine! My lovely friend Skye Noel lead a wonderful prenatal yoga class and everyone got a taste of what it was like for me to move around with my big belly. Everyone laughed and had a really fun time! After yoga each friend in the circle gave their blessings and intentions to Shane, our Babies, and I. There were tears shed by almost every guest and plenty shed by Shane and I. Each guest brought a bead and a necklace was strung for me to wear during labor to remind me of the community, support, and love that I have around me and our family. The whole ceremony and blessing was so sweet and heartfelt. After the sweet blessing and shared intentions we all headed to the dining room to share yummy snacks, cake, and hot chai tea. Grandma made the adorable cake, I baked some pumpkin bread and brought other snacks, salad, and chai, and a few other friends brought yummy dishes and snacks. It was a truly lovely event! Here are some pics~
